Red5 init Script for Ubuntu

If you’ve read our Installing and Integrating Red5 with Kaltura CE5 post, you have probably encountered several errors when starting or stopping the Red5 Server.

./red5: 14: .: Can't open /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions
./red5: line 30: success: command not found
./red5: line 30: failure: command not found

The above error messages occur because the Red5 init Script is written for CentOS and not for Ubuntu.

Fixing Kaltura CE5 analytics (Continued)

We previously wrote about fixing some issues with Kaltura CE5 analytics.

However, if you are using Ubuntu server there is another issue which that must be fixed for the analytics to work.

On Ubuntu server, the Apache access log format specified in the Kaltura virtual host file is overridden by the main Apache configuration file. Below we list the steps to identify and fix the issue.

If you haven’t looked at our earlier post yet, make sure you have a look and fix the problems discussed there before trying the following steps.

Installing KalturaCE 5 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Kaltura CE can be installted on Cent-OS and Ubunto, but different distributions cause different issues. IF you ever wanted to install Kaltura on Ubuntu 12.04, some issues might arise.
